Hewitt says no to St. John’s

Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt has turned down an offer from St. John’s.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt has turned down an offer from St. John’s. Hewitt, a New York native, says he still has more to accomplish with Tech.
Georgia Tech gave St. John’s permission to interview Hewitt. He has been at Georgia Tech for 10 seasons and has a six-year contract at about $1.3 million a year.
St. John’s fired Norm Roberts after six seasons. The Red Storm have not been to the NCAA tournament since 2002.
