Smith To Support Bennett’s Family for Six Months
By RCALLOWAY MARCH 10TH, 2010
(Powder Springs, GA) – Hawks forward Josh Smith said he would help the family of slain high school football star Rajaan Bennett with their living expenses for the next six months.
Bennett was shot and killed by his mother’s ex-boyfriend, cutting short a football career that was
expected to land him at Vanderbilt starting in the fall. Smith, who attended McEachern High School in Powder Springs, the same school Bennett was attending before his death, met Bennett and was impressed. The Hawks will recognize Bennett before Saturday’s game against the Detroit Pistons.
