Hopkins wins versus Jones Jr
By RCALLOWAY APRIL 5TH, 2010LAS VEGAS (AP) — Bernard Hopkins finally has a bit of ice-cold revenge on Roy Jones Jr., avenging a loss in their first bout nearly 17 years ago.
Now, Hopkins’ business partner is among those who hope it will be enough to allow the 45-year-old Hopkins to consider retirement.
Hopkins might have retired Jones as well while winning a lopsided unanimous decision Saturday night. While Hopkins still has the savvy to survive against nearly any opponent despite his diminished punching power, the 41-year-old Jones appeared to have little left except a propensity for punching Hopkins behind the head and below the belt.
Neither boxer announced retirement before post-fight trips to the hospital, but both will discuss it with their families and friends in the next few weeks.
