Thursday, February 18th, 2010Lil Wayne’s legal woes are mounting - the prison-bound rapper is facing a lawsuit over royalties from his 2008 song Mrs. Officer. Record producer Darius ‘Deezle’ Harrison and music publishers at The Royalty Network are demanding $2.5 million for the use of the track on Wayne’s Grammy-winning album Tha Carter III. In a suit filed at Manhattan Federal Court in New York City on Wednesday, the plaintiffs allege they own the rights to the song, and rights to any profits from ring tones, music videos or streaming media.
CHRIS BROWN GOES TO COURT FOR A PROGRESS REPORT
Thursday, February 18th, 2010R&B singer Chris Brown is due in a Los Angeles courtroom today for a progress report hearing related to last year’s incident with then-girlfriend Rihanna. The 20-year-old singer is scheduled to attend the hearing before Superior Court Judge Patricia M. Schnegg, who noted at the last hearing Nov. 19 that Brown had gotten “an extremely favorable progress report.” The singer has completed more than 100 hours toward his required 180 days of community labor. He has also done seven domestic violence counseling sessions.
