The Soul Train Awards 2009
The 2009 Soul Train Awards were hosted this year by Academy Award-nominated actors Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard. Toni Braxton and Trey Songz opened the night with a performance, singing “Yesterday.” Other performers included Keri Hilson, Robin Thicke, Ryan Leslie, Raheem DeVaughn featuring Ludacris, Chrisette Michele, Mario featuring Sean Garrett, and many more throughout the night. Taraji P. Henson wowed the crowd as Diana Ross performing hits from the Supremes for the opening of the Motown 50 Tribute which also included Boyz II Men, Chico DeBarge, Johnny Gill, Estelle, Vita, Mike Phillips and Melanie Fiona. The Icon Award was given to Charlie Wilson and Chaka Khan. The musical tribute to Charlie Wilson included a duet with Brian McKnight and Kandi Burruss and the musical tribute to Chaka Khan included Erykah Badu, Ledisi, Fantasia, and Angie Stone. ”Centric Presents: 2009 Soul Train Awards” will air on BET and Centric on Sunday, November 29 at 9:00 P.M.
